Hi All
It's time again for the members bloghop over at Smeared&Smudged. Our theme this month was to use "Alter Something". I decided to alter a box. I first painted the box with white paint and left to dry. Then a coat of PVA was applied and left to go tacky, purple paint was applied next and the box was left to dry, I then rubbed the box over with a ink pad. It did not come out as I wanted it to,this was because I did not apply the PVA in one direction, as you can tell this was the first time I have tried to do a crackle effect, hopefully it will be better next time after some expert advice from BD. The images I used on the box are from the new digi releases from Smeared&Smudged

I love the effect and the colors are divine! The crackles almost take on a swirled look which adds to the mystical feel of the box and makes me think of the bats in flight. Thanks for hopping with Smeared and Smudged!

Jane... I think your box turned out wonderfully, especially for your first time of using PVA, which I will have to look it up and find out what that is! LOL! This is all new to me! I have never altered anything before! Thank you so much for inspiring me to try! Happy Creating! Sara

Coming from the IA challenge, this is the first bat I've seen. Really lovely addition and the crackles are truly a happy accident.
ReplyDeleteVery cool, but might I suggest crackle medium, it is in the craft acrylic isle at any of the stores (Mike's AC Moore Hobby Lobby etc. It works great and you do not go through so much glue. in expensive also. if you are across the pond, and can't find any, but want to give it a go, let me know...it might be available online also.

I came over from Inspiration Avenue. Love you entry and the creative altered box. The background cracking gives a perfect effect. And the bat images are a great focal point. Very cool!
